Full course description
This course will look at the use of social media tools and technology for marketing purposes. We will examine the ways in which interactive technology is changing the rules and processes for customer engagement. Special emphasis placed upon cornerstone digital marketing techniques that feature utilization of technologies that depend upon customer participation. Social media tools analyzed including Google, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, etc. The focus will be on the most commonly used social media tools in the marketing and business context by examining the functionality and the technological base that enhance their utility as marketing devices. We will also look at the risks associated with using these tools to both businesses and the consumer. The course will challenge you to look at social media in a new and more expansive way by requiring you to examine social media’s potential benefits and limitations, as well as appropriate ethical concerns, when used professionally for the purposes of marketing.
